As a Church school we have a distinctive character where Christian values are promoted in all aspects of school life.

We encourage all members of the school community to promote a Christian ethos where care and respect is shown to everyone.  As a Church school there are strong links with the Parish Church of St Laurence.  Members of the ministry team lead Worship weekly and visit regularly to support the school and the learning of the children.

St. Laurence’s Values Statement:

The family that is St. Laurence ensures that all members of the school community feel safe, valued, cared for and listened to.
We appreciate and value the uniqueness of each individual and provide a nurturing environment for all.
Our special Christian identity is demonstrated in the values we share and in the relationships that all members of the school community have with one another.
We are inclusive and welcome others regardless of differences; all individuals are respected, supported and nurtured.
We give to others the tolerance, understanding and forgiveness that we would want for ourselves.
With God’s guidance, “We believe, achieve and aspire!”

Our Christian Values

Joy
Genesis 41: 51

Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble…”

We understand that even the smallest of joys should be celebrated

Hope
Genesis 40:14

But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness

We understand that we should have hope for the future at all times

Forgiveness

Genesis 45: 5

And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.

We understand that by offering and accepting forgiveness we are all able to move forward in our lives

Love

Genesis 37: 3

Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate robe for him.

We understand that we can show love towards others in many ways

Resilience

Genesis 39: 20-21

Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favour in the eyes of the prison warden.

We understand that even when things are difficult, we must not give up
